Early Hitler Youth Knife, Solingen, circa 1933–1935
Steel, nickel-plated, Bakelite, zinc scabbard with leather hanger (postwar production). A rare early Hitler Youth knife from the period before the introduction of the RZM system. The grip with nickel-plated crossguard and pommel features the typical ribbed Bakelite grip plates, later re-riveted. The HJ diamond insignia has been removed (denazified). The blade is marked on the ricasso with “GARANTIE SOLINGEN” and the stag’s head logo. Accompanied by a later zinc scabbard with a leather hanger stamped “Made in Germany.” Age-appropriate, worn condition. Overall length approx. 25 cm, blade length approx. 14 cm.
This knife is an example of an early or pre-RZM piece. Before the Reichszeugmeisterei standardized production in 1935, manufacturers used their own company logos on the blades. It represents a historically interesting artifact from the formative years of the Hitler Youth organization.
