Auction - Yes or No?
What is art and what is kitsch, what is beautiful and what is ugly, is decided solely by collectors. So before you throw that "old porcelain figurine" with a bang in the bin, send us a photo by email or WhatsApp. It could be the work of a famous modeller and worth hundreds of euros.
Our experts will be able to recognize the difference and let you know if the photographed item is of any significant value. We look forward to your visit if you would like to consign an item or have it appraised. Please make an appointment to ensure that our experts are present.
The deadline for consignments is eight weeks before the next auction. The earlier we receive your item, the sooner we can target potential buyers and advertise in relevant magazines or on Instagram.
Auctions are good not only because they allow you to get the best possible market value for your item. Auctions are also a great way to meet international collectors and experience the incomparable auction atmosphere firsthand – going once, going twice and ... sold!
From Consignment to Proceeds
- We appraise and value your item - at our premises or, for larger collections, at yours. It may be helpful to send a photograph of the items in advance, either by email or WhatsApp. For very valuable items, we recommend that you obtain an expert opinion in addition to our appraisal.
- You decide whether to auction your item at the minimum bid price (reserve) we determined.
- We jointly decide whether and at what cost our experts will restore and clean your item before the auction.
- You will receive the consignment contract, which specifies the reserve price for all items and commission conditions and may include restoration costs and appraisal fees. Learn more about the consignment conditions and withdrawal terms. If everything is agreeable, you sign the contract.
- We take professional photographs and 360° images for publication in the catalogue and on the internet. We also write a description that highlights the property´s features and provides sound information. The catalogue and website will be published approximately four weeks before the auction.
- The auction takes place in our historic auction hall. You can follow the auction on-site or live online, reaching collectors worldwide.
- The day after the auction we publish the hammer prices achieved on our website. Here you can see which items are sold for how much.
- Approximately six weeks after the auction you will receive the proceeds of the sale.
- If your item is not sold, it will go into the post-auction sale. If you prefer not to participate, simply let us know and you can collect your item.
