World War I, the estate consists of: 1) Linen shirt with exercise collar and cuffs, red embroidery "IW2A, 6/16, H. Brandt" 2) Blue short jacket ("Äffchen") with 32 buttons of the Imperial Navy, red embroidery inside "IW2A, 7/16", label "Brandt, Herm. 7/16", yellow machinist's sleeve patch (gear with capital letter V) 3) Postcard "Zeppelin over Kiel", addressed to Fritz Brandt in Hausneindorf, postmarked May 24, 1917 4) Imperial Navy post letter from the command of the 1st German U-Flotilla, Pula, dated June 8, 1918, notifying the death of Hermann Brandt, signed by Flotilla Chief Friedrich Lützow (1881-1964), later Vice Admiral 5) Letter from the command of the 1st German Mediterranean U-Flotilla, Pula, concerning the settlement of the estate, signed by Lieutenant G. The U-boat U32, part of the Mediterranean Flotilla, carried out several successful missions in the Mediterranean during World War I. Hermann Brandt was killed on April 14, 1918, during a risky combat mission. U32, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Kurt Albrecht, was involved in sinking numerous enemy ships before it was likely lost due to enemy fire.
