Collection of Medals, Honor Crosses, and Commemorative Ribbons, Germany, circa 1839-1914
1) Friedrich-August Medal, silver, with laurel wreath and initials “FA” under a crown, on an original yellow and white striped ribbon, reverse with sword and palm branch, 2) Braunschweig War Merit Cross, two examples in bronze, inscribed “Für Verdienst im Kriege” (For Merit in War), reverse inscribed with “EA” and “1914,” both crosses without ribbons, 3) Commemorative Medal of Leopold, Grand Duke of Baden, bronze, inscribed “Dem tapferen Befreiungsheer 1849” (To the Brave Liberation Army 1849) on the front, surrounded by a laurel wreath, reverse with sword and palm branch, without ribbon, 4) Two Braunschweig Warrior Association Awards, 2nd Class, badges with crowns, both badges attached to original blue-yellow-black-white-red striped ribbons, 5) Two Commemorative Ribbons, one for the “XIV. Army Corps,” high-quality printed fabric ribbon featuring General der Infanterie von Mudra, below an oak tree with dates of his battles, length approx. 38 cm, and a commemorative ribbon from 1813-1913 featuring the portraits of Kaiser Wilhelm I, Kaiser Wilhelm III, Field Marshal von Blücher, Scharnhorst, and Stein, both ribbons in age-appropriate condition with light signs of wear, the blue ribbon shows discoloration at the bottom. All medals, crosses, and ribbons show slight signs of aging, with patina on the bronze surfaces, various conditions.
