Robert Dähncke (1867-1960), "Kiel. Kaisl. Yacht Hohenzollern"

oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right, 1895, the S.M.S Hohenzollern, which was launched in Stettin on June 27, 1892, is shown in the harbor of Kiel, the ship was used by Kaiser Wilhelm II for representative purposes, the model maker's fascination with ships can also be seen in the depiction of the new Imperial Yacht, Dähncke's technical expertise in the maritime theme is the basis for the detailed reproduction of the motif, restored condition, tear lower center and small hole upper right in the canvas closed and retouched, canvas partially wavy, image 42.5 x 54 cm (HxW), framed, frame width 7 cm

The Dähncke family has deep roots in the Hanseatic city Wismar. Robert Dähncke became famous for the model ships that he created for, among other things, the St. Nikolai Church in Wismar. Stadtgeschichtliches Museum in Wismar also preserves Dähncke's models.
